When most peeps think of Colorado, they think of mountains. And skiing. Guess what? There's another Colorado. Almost half of Colorado is not mountainous. In fact, the western edge of the Great Plains covers the eastern half of Colorado. The plains may look dull, but if you spend some time there, you will discover a vibrant, arid ecosystem and lots of wildlife.

Denver sits at the western edge of the Great Plains.
You can find prairie dawgs in some vacant land in Denver as well as throughout the Great Plains.
Trains navigate curves as they approach/leave the mountains west of Denver near Boulder. Denver and the Great Plains are visible in the background.
