USA Pro Cycling Challenge Time Trials in Vail, Colorady!

Left Denver at 4am to git to Vail before dawn to enjoy the Stage 3 time trials of the Toure de Colorady. Click on the pics for the HUGE version!

Preparations for the time trials are underway as we arrive before dawn. We lucked out and got a parking space in a garage (complete with bathrooms) right there in the building in the background. Convenient! A bakery let us in early for breakfast and coffee!

Not many peeps in Vail Village yet.

Condos I can't afford.

Oh look! Folks are comin' on down!

More condos I can't afford.

Setting up the boom crane camera right in front of me.

Colorado Guv'ner Hickenlooper ready to take a ride in the amateur time trials.

Finally the hordes are in place.

SHE™ and I are in this crowd, trust me!

Olympic cyclist and Ironman Triathlon winner John Howard set a 152.2 mph bicycle speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats on July 20, 1985. YIKES!! And here he is.

In front of the bald pate is Paul Sherwin, Versus announcer, well known in cycling circles.

These fellahs jumped out of a perfectly good airplane for some reason.

The slower riders go first on the time trials.

Anyone know who this is?

Frank Schleck, 3rd Place Winner, Le Tour De France ready to ride.

Anybody know who this is?

Taking pictures behind the starting gate.

Cadel Evans, 1st Place Winner, Le Tour De France, psyching up for the ride.

Shorts 'n spandex everywhere.

Cadel Evans still ruminating.

Levi Leipheimer preparing to win the time trials and take over the Yellow Jersey and the overall lead.

George Hincapie, Stage 2 Winner waiting his turn.

Tejay Van Garderen ready to ride in a losing attempt to retain his Yellow Jersey.

After the time trials end, the time clock is a lonely thang.
