South Texas New Year 2006

We spent New Year 2006 at a beautiful RV park behind the dunes on Mustang Island, Texas. Thanks to global warming, we enjoyed room temperature and sunny afternoons the entire time!


Just before nite arrives, the water color becomes deeper and more subtle at the same time!

Corpus Christi, Texas. You can take a nice bayside drive from downtown toward Padre Island. Some lucky folks live along the drive and have this view of downtown.


These birds are wintering at Rockport, Texas.


Birds love South Texas in the winter. There is a "birding trail" that you can drive to see all the winged Winter Texans.

This rv park has large, landscaped spaces. No two are alike. The beach is just over the large, healthy sand dunes. When near these dunes, beware the bug. Mosquitos also love global warming.

Folks have wondered, "what does the old fart look like?" Here's a foto. Handsome, ain't I?

East Texas is the land of the bug. This is a trap to catch bugs. I wonder why? Just stand out a few minites, and the bugs will come to you. No trap is needed!


The park features a large remnant of East Texas forest. A good place to hide from the hot sun!



Yes, it's hot 'n humid. Yes it is raining every day. But, a true Texan enjoys that kinda weather and camps out anyway. Especially when you got an air conditioned RV to camp in!

The Hill Country by Minnie Winnie

This was the first trip in our almost new Minnie Winnie. This was January of 2002.


I like to stop frequently at rest stops. Texas has some of the nicest rest stops in the Nation.


It's nice to know that in Texas, you can spend the night at a rest stop in safety and get a few "Zs" if you are tired.


This was the first visit to Pedernales Falls in many years. This is the purdiest part of Texas. I always expect to see John Wayne amblin' by at any time!

Camping In The Winnie

Springtime is a great time to camp in Texas. There are lots of flowers to see and the weather is tolerable.

Key West By Boat, 1996

The Stella Solaris, 1996

This is a picture I took of the Stella Solaris during our Mayan Equinox cruise back in 1996 or was it 1997... In the era of modern superliner cruise ships, this boat was a wonderful change of pace. Whilst searching the web for pictures that other folk have taken of this fine boat, I noticed that there have been updates to the interior decor.

Sadly, today I discovered that the Stella Solaris no longer exists. Due to financial problems of the owner, the ship has been broken apart and is now but a memory. What a shame!!


The lounge/salon area was a nice place to relax, talk to fellow travelers, or read a good, non-political book!


The top deck was always a sunny place to dip yer toes in the pool, or, in my case, eat!


The nice thing about a cruise is that you have a great view of the ocean in every direction!


OK, this isn't really traveling in an RV, but this ship was a marvelous old tub!

Colorado, 2005

We based in Colorado Springs. There's a lot to do there! One of the most beautiful spots in America is the Garden of the Gods. The red rock outcroppings are special!

We travel with three quats. As you can see, they travel well. As long as you keep 'em fed, that is!

I recommend the Royal Gorge Train. For two hours you get to travel on a vintage trainset that reminds me of me youth...

I'm too lazy to do this, but lots of people like to raft the river in the gorge.

There are two mountains that stand tall together in southern Colorado. The Indians called them the "breasts of the world". Those naughty men! Here they are for your enjoyment.

The area around Cripple Creek is an old gold mining area. There are mines scattered around the area. Some of them are still operating.
